We walked into the old man's house with carefully prepared daily necessities. This is a simple and unadorned space, without fancy decorations or expensive furniture, but every inch of the space is filled with the warmth and tranquility of home. These necessities of life, although simple, carry our deep respect and gratitude towards our grandfather. They are not only material assistance, but also a noble tribute to this heroic predecessor from the depths of our hearts.

The old man's wife showed us his medal of honor and some materials, including the commemorative medal for the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army's war against America and aid Korea, which was jointly awarded by the CPC Central Committee, the State Council and the Central Military Commission. From the materials displayed by the grandma, we know that the grandpa was born on November 21, 1939. He joined the Chinese People's Volunteer Army and came to Korea in March 1956. His troops are 13 teams of 297 troops. The troops are located in Dayangli, Korea. After the war, he was transferred to the Shenyang troops of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The troop number is 0854, and the troops are located in Shenyang. The old man participated in the Korean War with the army in Dayangli, North Korea, completing the transportation of weapons, ammunition, and other work. After returning to China, he participated in the important task of defending the motherland with the Shenyang army.


During the conversation, the grandfather's spouse also told us the story of their marriage. She told us that they raised a total of four children, with the eldest son suffering from polio and requiring long-term care and companionship. When she was young, she couldn't go out to work and could only wholeheartedly take care of her children at home. And the grandfather became the pillar of the family, taking on the responsibility of supporting the family alone. However, fate does not always favor kind people. A few years ago, my grandfather suffered a sudden cerebral infarction and his condition was critical, requiring urgent hospitalization. During that time, he couldn't turn over, sit, or take care of himself. As the condition worsened, the old man entered and exited the hospital multiple times, each time touching the hearts of the entire family.

During the days when the old man was hospitalized, the old woman remained by his side, never abandoning him. Accompanying him through one difficult moment after another. With the improvement of his condition, the old man was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital for professional rehabilitation treatment. However, he always cared about his family and longed to return home soon. So, with the joint efforts of the doctor and his family, the grandfather finally returned home and was taken care of by the grandmother and the hired caregiver in rotation. At night, the grandmother always wakes up to take care of the grandfather, getting up four or five times a night to turn him over, change diapers, feed him, etc. Such days are difficult for any elderly person, but the grandmother has never complained. During the day, she is busy cooking and feeding, and the grandfather's diet needs to be balanced and nutritious. Under the careful care of the old lady, the grandfather's body gradually recovered and his complexion became rosy. Now, he can slowly walk with his walking aid and move his upper body freely. With the company and support of his family, he can enjoy such a wonderful old age.

During the visit, we also prepared a set of health exercises specifically for the elderly grandfather and grandmother. This set of exercises is simple and easy to learn, which helps improve blood circulation and enhance physical vitality. We demonstrated and explained the essentials of the movements at the same time, and the grandparents also studied very seriously. In addition, we also provided professional massages for the elderly man, hoping to alleviate his physical discomfort. The old man kept thanking us for coming and caring. Although his words were simple and plain, they were full of sincere emotions and deep emotions.

This visit is a spiritual touch and baptism for every member of our team. We have a deeper understanding of the preciousness of peace and the immortal achievements of the veterans who fought bravely for our happy life today. It is their dedication and sacrifice that have brought us peace and tranquility today.
